Guilty Pleasures: ESL Conversation Lesson & My Guilty Pleasure in Korea

As this ESL conversation lesson is on guilty pleasures around the world, I wanted to take a moment to share some of my own experience with guilty pleasures in Korea.  If you are interested in downloading this free ESL conversation lesson on guilty pleasures around the world, feel free to scroll past my foray into guilty pleasures within Korea.

I’ve been living in Korea for almost a decade now, and one of the most noticeable aspects of living in Korea are the abounding convenience stores at nearly every corner which are often open 24/7. They are filled with a wide range of eccentric, trendy, and sometimes delicious foods including gummies and candies, sandwiches, burgers, sausages, sodas, chips, and other snacks which disappear and appear from week to week.

My guilty pleasure in Korea involves hitting up these convenience stores and blowing a bit of cash on a daily basis and trying out some of these random and eccentric snacks often doing a number on my teeth with all that sugar (which makes it a guilty pleasure).  A route I often go is gummies. Today, I wanna take a shot at trying out three recent oddball flavors I picked out and tried out on the video above: energy drink gummies, vitamin C drink gummies, and spicy tteok-boki (떡볶이) gummies.

Now then, if you are looking for a travel themed ESL conversation lesson on guilty pleasures around the world as well I've provided a free ESL conversation pdf below so that you can further discuss this topic with your ESL students.
