ESL Conversation Lesson: The Countries With The Spiciest Foods

As this ESL conversation lesson is on the countries with the spiciest foods, me and my father stopped by the convenience store nearby my house in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea where my father tried out some Korean fire chicken ramen (불닭볶음면) for the first time in the video above.

In the travel themed ESL conversation lesson I've provided below, you can further discuss various spicy foods around the world with your ESL students. Just scroll down to the end of this blog and click the image if you'd like to download this free ESL conversation lesson pdf, and if you find it useful I've made a book format as well which includes 24 lessons.

Our lesson format includes: imagery, table topic, hypothetical table topic, guided conversation questions, two conversational activities, and a homework project.

Some ESL conversation questions include:

What it is you like or dislike about spicy food?  Which of the dishes on the previous pages sounds most or least appealing to you? Why so?  What are some of your favorite spicy dishes?  Do you agree or disagree with the country ranking on the previous page? If yes, why so? If no, how would you change it and why?  Have you ever built a tolerance for spicy food? If so, how did you do it? What's your tolerance like now?
