ESL Conversation Lesson: The Countries With The Spiciest Foods
As this ESL conversation lesson is on the countries with the spiciest foods, me and my father stopped by the convenience store nearby my house in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea where my father tried out some Korean fire chicken ramen (불닭볶음면) for the first time in the video above.

What are some of your favorite spicy dishes? Do you agree or disagree with the country ranking on the previous page? If yes, why so? If no, how would you change it and why? Have you ever built a tolerance for spicy food? If so, how did you do it? What's your tolerance like now?
scoville scale: a measurement of the pungency (spiciness) of chili peppers and other spicy foods, as recorded in scoville heat units (SHU)
mouth-numbing: causing a loss of sensation or feeling in your mouth, and may include a tingling or prickling feeling on your lips and mouth
Country ranking by general amount and level of spicy food dishes:
Thailand - spiciest dish: Gaeng Tai Pla(hottest ingredient used in dish: Bird's eye chili - 100000 to 150000 SHU)
Gaeng Tai Pla is an extremely spicy curry. It's main ingredient is made from a fish stomach marinade.
2. India - spiciest dish: Vindaloo
(hottest ingredient used dish: Ghost pepper - 855,000 and 1,500,000)
Vindaloo is an Indian curry dish popular in the region of Goa, Vasai which is usually made with pork marinated in wine and garlic.
3. China - spiciest dish: Ma po tofu
(hottest ingredient used dish: Doubanjiang - 3,500 to 8,000 SHU)
Ma po tofu: a tofu dish make with spicy bean chili sauce, tofu and ground pork as well as sichuan
The sichuan in the dish Ma po tofu is a peppercorn well-known for its' mouth-numbing effect.
