For this ESL conversation lesson on bleisure, I stopped by our school and classroom and previewed the lesson a bit by going over the warm-up table topic and also gave some ESL teaching tips in the video above.

If you are just looking to download the free ESL conversation pdf just scroll past the lesson descriptions and click the image to get the free ESL conversation lesson pdf, and if you find it useful I've made a book format as well which includes 24 lessons.

Our lesson format includes imagery, table topic, hypothetical table topic, guided conversation questions, two conversational activities, and a homework project.

Some ESL conversation questions in the lesson include:

What kind of work do you do? Have you ever had a chance to mix business and leisure? How'd it go? Can you think of any good jobs or destinations for bleisure? How much spare time do you have? What do you do in your spare time? Do you get enough breathing space when you are at work? How about when you are at home? How about in your romantic relationship? Do you know of any other English portmanteaus? What's your favorite portmanteau in your native language?

Lesson topics

bleisure - the practice of combining business travel and leisure travel into one trip

I think I can sneak in a little bleisure on my next business trip.

portmanteau word: a word formed by combining two other words

"Chimek' is my favorite portmanteau. It's a Korean portmanteau that combines the words of 'chicken' and 'mekju' (chicken and beer).

bleisure/bizcation : the practice of combining business travel and leisure travel into one trip

I've got some business in Europe, I might as well sneak in some bleisure while I'm there and see some sights as well.

leisure: (formal) the time when you are not working or doing other duties

I don't like to do anything during my leisure time. I usually just catch up on sleep.

spare time: (synonym for leisure) time when you are not working or do not have anything you must do

A common American conversation question is, "What do you do in your spare time?"

breathing space: a period of rest in order to increase strength or give you more time to think about what to do next

Now that I've finished that business deal I've got a little breathing space to make a plan for enjoying myself here.
